Turkey presented a new 1 billion barrels deposit
Turkiye Petrolleri has discovered an oil field with reserves of 1 billion barrels.
Turkiye Petrolleri announced that it has discovered an oil field in the Judi and Gavar districts in the province of Sirnak in southeastern Turkey.
The company reported that the reserves of the field amount to about 1 billion barrels. It is planned to produce 100 thousand barrels per day at the field. Due to this, Turkey will be able to increase its own oil production more than twice.
Recall that now Turkey is forced to import about 2 million tons of oil every month. However, earlier, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that the new oil field would allow the country to abandon the import of energy resources, since after the “giant” discovery it would start producing 8 million tons per year.
At the same time, the country’s oil needs amount to about 40 million tons per year, so the refusal of imports is rather an election slogan.
