OMV has explored the largest gas field in Austria in the last 40 years

The Austrian OMV opened the largest natural gas field in Austria in the last 40 years.

On July 28, 2023, OMV confirmed the industrial inflow of natural gas at the Watteau Tief-2a exploration well, which is in Lower Austria. Its depth is 5 thousand m.

OMV signed a contract for drilling a directional well in Lower Austria with Polish Exalo Drilling in May 2022. Drilling of the well began at the end of December 2022. The estimated drilling time is about 110 days.

The planned depth of the well is 4800 m, the length is 5210 mm.

OMV is considering various options for further evaluation of the field, as well as accelerated development together with the gas processing plant operated by OMV in Aderkla, located 10 km from the new field.
