In 2025, China will reach the maximum level of coal consumption

In 2025, China will consume more than 4 billion tons of coal, the Chinese state-owned company Sinopec has made a forecast.

The Chinese state-owned company Sinopec has issued a forecast for coal consumption in the country. According to her, in 2025, China’s coal consumption will reach its peak and amount to 4.37 billion tons. At the same time, the company’s analysts claim that renewable energy sources in the country will provide energy in an amount equivalent to 3 billion tons of coal by 2045. And they will become a priority source of energy for half of consumers.

In parallel, the country’s oil consumption will peak in the period from 2026 to 2030. Sinopec forecasts peak oil demand at 16 million barrels per day.

The transition to natural gas to achieve carbon neutrality in China is possible by 2040, when it will be able to provide 13% of primary energy.
