China wants to expand its activities in the Arctic and Antarctic. Four Chinese scientific stations are already operating in Antarctica, and a fifth is under construction, the Chinese Threat telegram channel writes. In addition, China has two more polar research centers — one in Svalbard, which has been operating for 20 years, and the second in Iceland, founded in 2018.
Currently, China wants to create the shortest sea Transport route, which should pass near the North Pole. According to the plan of its creators, the TMP should take place mainly in neutral waters, which will facilitate navigation for Chinese maritime transport.
