The Chinese shipyard Dalian Shipbuilding Industry, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., has signed contracts for the construction of 6 VLCC oil supertankers running on conventional fuel and 4 similar vessels running on liquefied natural gas, the Chinese website iMarine reports.
Both contracts include a construction option (if confirmed) two more ships each. Thus, the total number of tankers will be 14 units. The transfer of vessels into operation will begin from the end of 2026.
