10 June 2024

China intends to develop cooperation with Pakistan in the field of offshore oil and gas resources and gas hydrates.
The Chinese authorities also intend to support the active participation of national enterprises in the development of offshore oil and gas fields in the country.
In early June, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif paid an official visit to China, during which he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (Parliament) Zhao Leji. The parties discussed bilateral cooperation in detail and agreed to deepen the all-weather strategic partnership.
Beijing and Islamabad are satisfied with the progress they have been able to achieve in the field of energy partnership, TASS reports. They confirmed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation in the relevant field, pointing out the need to promote environmentally friendly projects.
The countries will implement joint programs based on mutual benefit, guided by market and commercial principles.
