ChinOil will determine the location of new parametric wells
The company will also prepare facilities for parametric drilling.
The study area will cover 117,601 thousand km2.
The maximum research depth is 15 km, the target interval is 2-4 km.
The works will include assessment and processing of retrospective geological and geophysical evidence, in particular 3500 km of CMP data. It is necessary to digitize log data, time profiles and results of potential field studies and electrical prospecting of the past years.
Then, the company will carry field geophysical work using an innovative technological base, including:
- seismic survey of CMP-2D;
- electrical prospecting by magnetotelluric sounding and near-field time-domain electromagnetic sounding;
- geochemical survey (litho gas geochemical studies) of subsoil deposits along the profile with a step of 500 m;
- complex aerogeophysical research.
Then, interpretation of potential fields on the basis of modern innovative technologies, drilling of core wells with a total depth of 3,000 m, core sampling at least 2,400 m will be performed; a primary geological description, systematization and transportation of core material to the storage location will be made.
It will help to localize distribution areas of permeable reservoirs, to study the relationships between the structural plans of Riphean and Vendian-Paleozoic deposits with the reservoir forecast to substantiate the oil-promising areas and objects, build a model of its sedimentary cover, and specify the locations of the projected parametric wells.
An assessment of oil and gas potential of the study area will also be made.
