ChinOil Begins Pilot Program for Methane Leak Detection

ChinOil has launched a pilot program using advanced sensors to detect methane leaks across select production sites, aiming to reduce fugitive emissions and improve overall environmental performance.

The sensors provide continuous readings across wellheads and pipeline junctions, allowing maintenance teams to respond to leaks far more quickly than traditional periodic inspections would allow. Early results from the pilot sites have shown a meaningful reduction in detection-to-repair time.

“Catching leaks earlier isn’t just good for the environment, it’s good business,” said an engineer overseeing the program.
