ChinOil annually drills more than a thousand wells.

These are the most capital-intensive projects in field development. ChinOil established Drilling Management Center to implement the latest technologies, including digital ones.

As the Head of the Drilling department notes: “We often drill a horizontal well of 2.5 km long with a dip of 1.5-2 km. And we need to bring it into the oil section of 5–7 meters wide. And the necessary information about the well borer location starts to come within some time. For this purpose we create a digital tool (based on machine learning methods, non-linear regressions, etc.) that will transform operation data into information about the dynamics of borer penetration to the formation, which means that by using indirect information, it will be possible to determine the composition of the reservoir and to understand whether we are in the right section or have stepped outside and must urgently adjust the direction of drilling”.
