Qatar Energy has signed an agreement with China to build 18 LNG tankers

Qatar Energy contracted the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CNG) to build 18 QC-Max class LNG tankers.
The new 271,000 cubic metres each will be built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Corporation. The $6 billion contract is the largest shipbuilding contract in the industry.
The agreement was signed in Beijing with the participation of State Minister of Energy, Managing Director and Director General of Qatar Energy Saad al-Kaabi. «These tankers are considered the most advanced and the largest in size, which underlines our desire for innovation and environmental responsibility», – said al-Kaabi at the ceremony.
